The first record of tea dates back to 200 BC when it was mentioned in a pharmacological treatise as originating from China. By the 14th century tea was being exported from China to the west where as today it was made in a teapot infused for a few minutes. Each country then had its own way to enjoy tea, in the UK it was brewed to strength and had with a splash of milk, in Japan it became the focus of ceremony, in Russia it was made in a Samovar and in India blended with spices.
Tea has been citied to have many beneficial health properties ranging from lowering of stress, boosting of the immune system, improving cardiovascular health to inhibiting bad breath and boosting mental alertness. Tea has antioxidants that are known to help fight cancer and assist in rejuvenation. Besides Tea itself there are some aromatic spices, fruits and herbs that contribute to medicinal and remedial properties of the final concoction along with lending an enjoyable taste.
